I will do a lot of crack RP with Berdly, but do not be surprised if my portrayal of him occasionally edges on to the more serious side. I do not treat Berdly exclusively as a joke character (side note: my account is also NOT a parody account), and though it is fun to joke with him, do not act weird with me if I decide to explore more serious aspects of his character. I'm entitled to do as such, this being my account and my portrayal of Berdly.

I recognize that because Berdly is a relatively antagonistic character in canon, as well as in my portrayal of him (occasionally), he will get in-character hate from others. I'm fine with this, and often, I expect it, though my portrayal of him is one working more towards redemption, and he doesn't intentionally try to needle others anymore. I'm fine with your muse disliking him, but what I am not fine with is you escalating any interaction between our muses to graphic threats or physical violence with no warning and without my permission. I'm also not fine with serious harm being wished upon Berdly or him being suibaited.

As a sidenote, I prefer there not be a ton of IC jokes made about Berdly being an edible bird, or him being eaten. It's wildly uncomfortable for me. Even if you're joking around, if you reply to me with some shit about turning Berdly into roasted chicken or something, I'll block you. (calling him stupid things like "nugget boy" is fine. Just do not imply you're going to cook or eat him, that makes me feel downright nauseous)

Between trying to maintain his role as an honors student, and maintaining volunteer work as an assistant at the library, and doing charity work for Hometown's Church — as well as two minimum wage jobs, Berdly keeps himself very busy, a little overworked, even.

On top of all this, he's a self-proclaimed popular streamer and speedrunner, though his streams have yet to gain much traction outside of a low watch count in Hometown.

Berdly doesn't make much mention of his family or homelife to many people, only sharing details of it to a few amount of people he trusts. It's not like it's abhorrent... He just doesn't think that many people need to know about it.

Portrayal takes influence from the neutral route of Chapter 2 in Deltarune. In an otherwise Pacifist run, Berdly fried his arm, and woke up with it paralyzed in the Light World. He had to go through weeks of treatment for it, ending in physical therapy, which he still needs a bit more of. Though his right arm is usable now, it isn't as functional as it used to be, and Berdly often requires assistance from others with two hand/arm jobs. He's also had to teach himself to write with his left hand, now being ambidextrous.

Portrayal will adjust accordingly as more chapters of Deltarune are released.

Berdly is the son of two busy, divorced parents. His father works as a doctor at the hospital, and his mother is a secretary to Mayor Holiday. Berdly's parents have joint custody over him, as such he spends half of his time with one of them and the other half of his time with the other.

Berdly's father is very cold and uncaring, and puts a lot of pressure on his son to maintain good grades. His father puts a bit too much trust in him to hold the fort at home all by himself, and as such, Berdly's father very often leaves him home alone.

Berdly's mother is a very bubbly and eccentric woman, and is very openly friendly to other people, as well as hardly ever seen without a wine glass in her hand. Unlike his father, Berdly's mother does try, to an extent, to appeal to her son's interests, but for the most part is very forgetful in regards to him. Both of them seem to always forget Berdly's name.

Berdly is the younger of two siblings in his family — He has one older brother by the name of Bradly, who's been in college for a while at this point. Bradly, though still not treated the best by his and Berdly's parents, was always more favored over Berdly, being a star athlete and generally, considered all around more popular and charismatic with others in Hometown and at school.

Though Berdly loves his brother, and considers him to be one of the few people he can be open with in his life, he also resents him to a degree, feeling as if until he won the Spelling Bee in middle school, he was completely overcasted by his brother, and still living a bit in his shadow afterwards. In contrast to their parents, Bradly is very supportive and protective of Berdly and tries very hard to bond with him and appeal to his interests.

Alongside his issues with his right wing and vision problems, Berdly also has a few other health problems, mainly asthma and chronic migraines. He's a bit physically frail and easy to injure, and this is one of the reasons why his brother Bradly is very protective of him. He often frets over Berdly being left to deal with any bullies by himself, even surmising that something as small as a strong gust of wind could knock Berdly over and hurt him.

Berdly hates the idea that anyone would ever assume he's weak or needs protecting, despite whatever good intentions they have in regards to him. Berdly likes to think of himself as strong, independent, and a "worthy knight" that others can look up to, though often many of his insecurities will conflict with that. He would rather be seen as someone who protects others than someone who needs protecting. Perhaps he's also tad romantic about it, liking to envision himself as someone's Knight in Shining Armor, knowing well he likely isn't the perfect picture of one.

School life is much tougher for Berdly than it often seems at a surface level glance. Though he does have key subjects he excels in, they're few between the other subjects he needs to work on in school. Due to his neurodivergence, Berdly often has trouble processing and absorbing information in a busy public setting, most notably with subjects like math and science. As such, he seeks tutoring from Noelle on these subjects and others to keep up the grades everyone expects from him. Though he doesn't directly voice it, he often worries he burdens Noelle a lot with their study sessions and holds her back.

Due to his demeanor and the way he can inappropriately approach social situations, Berdly has had a lot of trouble making friends with others in the past and present, and can have a tendency to latch onto anyone that treats him with kindness, and will even tend to do so if it's otherwise obvious that they do not really like him. He's been like this in social situations for a lot of his life, particularly as a younger kid. Berdly never likes appearing desperate for attention or affection, even if he very much so is, and will often try to rationalize why someone would want to be nice to him through outlandish ideas about them in his head. This is never done with any malicious intent on Berdly's part.

Berdly takes a lot of comfort in gaming. Though it can be tough, he sees it as a nice break away from what he considers to be a pretty stressful life that he has, especially if he's doing it with a friend or acquaintance. He founded the Gaming Club at Hometown's highschool, and although the club isn't very populated, he's still often the happiest at school when holding meetings for it.

Due to how stressful his life has gotten trying to maintain multiple jobs and good grades, Berdly's become an unexpected procrastinator as a highschooler, having an inability to get much of any schoolwork done if he's left by himself. Wanting to wind down, he'll often cram in many hours on one of his favorite games at home before he even considers looking at homework or projects. He often slides in working on homework he doesn't need help with into his study sessions with Noelle, not trusting himself to get them finished alone.

As he isn't as social as he needs to be in real life despite his best efforts, Berdly is heavily online and frequently looks to the internet for social interaction, mainly on forums and many social media sites. Though Berdly tends to get into pretty heated arguments on the internet, mostly, he just likes having a place to share his interests with others where he feels like he can't really with others in his town. Berdly hardly gives his social medias out to people. If you find him though, you found him, and he's going to make sure you never tell a soul about how much more embarrassing he is online than in person.

Berdly's built a lot of his sense of self around being the smart kid that everybody knows in his adolescence, and as such struggles a lot trying to find a unique identity outside of being the smart kid. He doesn't really want to be considered the brainy, arrogant asshole who always brags about his grades and superiority, but feels locked in as such. Berdly's tried many ways of expressing himself — mainly only on the internet, as he fears what doing so in real life in Hometown would do to his reputation. Outside of being "the smart kid", Berdly doesn't feel like he has any concrete identity, and it's something that messes with him a lot, particularly playing into his fear of being forgotten. If he's not the smart kid, then he's just some nobody that everyone will forget.

Along with this, he considers the Star Fox and Metroid series to be his favorite video games.

Berdly startles easier than he'd like to admit, and is rather sensitive to horror topics in media, most particularly games. He can't sit through horror movies without crying very early on, and very easily fears and believes urban legends and creepypastas. He can't even handle cave noises in Minecraft, often having his character run away the moment he hears one in the game.

He can draw a bit, but doesn't demonstrate it very often. Berdly's art style could be most accurately described as "teenager who just got their hands on a 'How to Draw Manga' book".

Berdly loves keyboards and has collected a few in the past. He wants to learn how to play the keyboard and become a master at it, but... it's a work in progress. At the moment, his actual playing is embarrassingly bad. He takes great enjoyment though in messing with the sound settings and playing random funny sound effects on his keyboard.

Berdly detests winter and cold weather, only ever looking forward to Christmas — mainly because of the thought of Noelle. Being a bit sensitive to cold temperatures, Berdly often heavily bundles up on cold days in the winter, not daring to leave out even a single layer if he feels it's needed.

Berdly is specifically a mountain bluebird.

He knows how to bake, and he's relatively okay at it, often performing better at it when following an online or cooking book recipe. The Gamer's Delight he baked for Queen was what happened when he was left to make his own recipe without any guides. It had mountain dew and worms in it.

Being a bird, Berdly often snacks on worms and bugs. He's gotten some judgement for this in the past from his peers, being called weird and gross for it. He's pretended not to care, but it has gotten to him a few times.

Despite his expressiveness when it comes to making faces, Berdly has a tendency to unintentionally talk in a pretty flat tone.

He sleeps terribly. Berdly has a tendency to pull all-nighters, most often for the purpose of studying more often, but on top of this, he just plain doesn't sleep easily.

He's very interested in technology, liking to work with computers, particularly old ones. Computers are a special interest for Berdly.

Berdly loves magical girl animes, particularly taking an interest in Sailor Moon and, worringly, Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

In general, Berdly's a rather big anime fan and will take any opportunities he sees to reference his favorites.

Berdly and his family are not originally from Hometown, having only moved there when he was finishing up elementary school. Noelle was one of the first kids Berdly ever made friends with in his new school.
